THE Wewak Netball Association season proper tossed off on a high note.

It was a tussle of East Sepik’s untapped talents that saw good action at the Wewak netball courts.

Association president Melvina Nakin said the competition tipped off with 25 teams in the Under-13, U15, U17 and senior division.

Nakin said in the senior division Boco beat Saints 14-11, Kreer Heights stopped Royals 11-4 and Anness beat Kipes.

In the U17, Heights thumped Royals 14-0, Boco beat Saints 17- 13 and Anness routed Kipes 16- 6.

In the U15, Heights walked over Royals 17-4, Saints tamed Anness 14-4 and Kipes forfeited Saints 2.

In the U13 Saints 1 beat Anness 17-4, while Boco Heights forfeited to Kipes and Saints 2 respectively.

Nakin said the association was looking forward to selecting senior and junior teams for the national championship in Port Moresby.

“We have a lot of untapped raw talents that we intend to expose at a high level event so the competition in Wewak can be developed,” Nakin said. She said selected players should be prepared to travel and reminded them to start raising their levy fees.

This weekend will round two with Anness playing Saints, Kipes facing Royals and Boco-Heights.

In the U17, Anness plays Saints, Kipes play Royals and Boco confronts Heights.

The U15 sees Anness-Boco, Royals-Saints 2 and Heights-Saints 2, while Kipes are on bye.

In U13, Heights plays Anness, Saints 1 play Kipes and Saints 2 face Boco.
