THE three remaining students of the 17 quarantined in New Zealand after their evacuation from coronavirus-infected Wuhan City in China arrived in Port Moresby last Friday.
Their 14 colleagues had arrived on Thursday from Auckland.
Ruben Kolomba, one of the three, said they were not infected with the coronavirus (Covid-19) but as per the requirement, they had to be quarantined somewhere because they had lived in the epicentre of the outbreak.
He told of the anxious period they faced when a lockdown was declared in Wuhan.
They were relieved when New Zealand came in to evacuate them and other Pacific islanders.
He said the academic year had started in September and the outbreak occurred during the winter break.
Many universities in Wuhan including the University of Technology he was attending should be resuming classes this week.
He and 16 the others will be having classes online while here at home.
Meanwhile, according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) situation report on Covid-19 issued on Feb 22, there were 77,794 confirmed cases of which 76,392 were from China and 1,402 from outside China.
There were 2,348 deaths in China and 11 deaths outside of China.
Two new countries, Lebanon and Israel, have reported cases which brought the number of countries outside of China with Covid-19 to 28.
