Administrator must discipline adviser

Letters

I BRING to the attention of the Morobe administrator and his HR manager of an ongoing issue which is happening right in front of their offices.
This issue warrants immediate attention and disciplinary action if they are serious about serving the people of Morobe.
Most times, an adviser can be seen either too drunk around the provincial headquarters or at home, provided by the provincial government, drinking.
This has been going on for a number of years now.
On Tuesday, the adviser was seen dishing out money to people passing into the gates of the provincial headquarters.
What kind of public service image are we showing to the people of Morobe at a time when many of them are facing much difficulties?
While youths and mothers are struggling to find support to sustain their livelihoods, a senior officer within the provincial administration sees it fit to exhibit the life of a rich drunkard.
My question is, how long will the administration tolerate this kind of unethical behaviour.
Youths and mothers are still waiting for support services in the province’s districts and asking if the division of community development ever receives funding to provide intervention programmes for them.
Youth issues are news items everyday across all mainstream and social media.
Gender-based violence (GBV) is also a growing issue that needs immediate solutions.
These are the areas of concern that this administration should be working with other key stakeholders to address instead of funding drinking sprees across Lae.
The actions of this officer is a gross negligence of his duties and extremely unethical behaviour for a public servant.
Communities across Morobe, particularly youths and mothers will be watching to see what action the administration takes.
These people deserve better and it is time the Morobe administration show that they are in control.
