AIR Niugini has come to the aid of a primary school in Goroka, Eastern Highlands, by providing new computers.
West Goroka Primary School received six Dell computers from the office of airline chief executive officer, Wasantha Kumarasiri.
Since Kumarasiri could not make it to Goroka last week, Air Niugini Employers Association national secretary Emmanuel Pilai presented the computers to the school last Friday.
School board chairman Joppa Gomia and head teacher Tony Koyangko thanked Air Niugini saying it was a timely gift as the school was thinking of setting up a computer lab for senior classes.
Gomia said the donation was the first of its kind and that they wanted to maintain a good relationship with Air Niugini.
Koyangko said teachers would also be taught basic computer skills as well.
The donation came following a letter of request for help submitted by deputy head teacher Gondropo Allan.
An Air Niugini IT specialist accompanied Pilai to show teachers how to use the computers.
