Airline transporting vital supplies during lockdown

PNG Air is airlifting medical supplies to help in mitigating the spread of the Covid-19.
A company statement said more than 8.5 tonnes of medical equipment, personal protective equipment, hospital supplies and medicines for Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS and malaria were transported to provincial hospitals and health centers around the country.
“In addition, more than 10 tonnes of fresh produce have also been uplifted to continue supplying the people (food),” it said.
“The PNG Air Dash-8 freighter is capable of moving up to four tonnes and is a lifeline to many communities who do not have road access.”
The airline has also used seat packs on the new ATR72-600 to transport additional freight supplies to airports approved by the state of emergency controller.
“PNG Air is supporting PNG during this time of unprecedented challenges,” the airline said.
