All partners to shoulder blame

Letters

I HAVE read some posts on Facebook regarding the students’ performance last year.
They said most schools did not perform well in the National Examination. People blamed the teachers and few blamed the students.
Think back on this issue.
Teachers are like sign boards to show you the way.
Teaching is a noble profession and teachers are hardworking people who have sleepless nights.
A teacher is trained to teach and serve people with humble a heart.
When we compare teachers and other public servants, teachers do extra jobs.
They don’t even enjoy any free time on earth. They teach according to the learning indicators and outcomes to achieve certain objectives.
Teachers are not flash drives or SD cards containing documents and information.
A teacher can’t install everything into the brain of a student. It is the student who will learn.
Some students think studying is just for examination purposes.
Study will develop knowledge to be a good citizen.
We have to blame the students.
Why?
Students are the ball players. Teachers are trainers and parents are coaches.
Other stakeholders who help students act as spectators.
Teachers are doing their part to take students to the next level of their studies.
Parents and guardians are the first teachers at homes.
The blame also goes to parents or guardians for failing their children.
The Provincial Education Board should also recruit quality teachers.
Mobile phone is a contributing factor that distracts the attention of students.
A student with a handset will often be busy on Facebook, Google, WhatsApp and other applications installed in the phone.
The result is poor performance.
Parents and guardians should sit with their own children and talk to them.
