VICE Minister for Sports Labi Amaiu came to the rescue of the Boroko Off Season Rugby League with a morale boosting K10,000 for the grand final next week.

As the Member for Moresby North-East, Amaiu said it was his obligation to see that youths in his electorate were occupied with sporting activities as well as meaningful programmes.

Amaiu told Boroko president Steven Johns the money should be spent for the benefit of the players and clubs to see that the grand final ended with awards presentation.

He will continue to support the league if the money is accounted for by Johns and his executives.

Johns thanked Amaiu for fulfilling his commitment, saying the money would be spent to buy trophies and other awards.

Amaiu supported the Baaz Cup, named after his son, for three seasons with the Eastern Highlands Nokondi Off Season League at Boroko.
