Association still waiting for action

Letters

CORRUPTION is real and people can be paid to deny its full impact.
If agencies and the department heads are turning a blind eye, who do you see containing it?
Who do you see addressing corruption when those in authority are not acknowledging it?
Do we just join the process and pretend that corruption is done by others and we do not have anything to do about it?
I have been asking the police, Ombudsman Commission and the Department of Lands and Physical Planning to investigate and restore titles to Kone Tigers land, Old Parliament House and Banz Club and other public lands.
Despite many ministers and secretary’s making comments, nothing has happened.
This time, in relation to Banz Club, we were pursuing investigations until a National Court decision made in our absence confirming fraud was located.
We have referred to the National Court decision establishing fraud by the Lands Department and its officers named specifically by the presiding judge.
We have written to and provided evidence to the minister and secretary and even to the Ombudsman Commission and are still waiting, after five years for the Department of Lands to restore the title to the Farmers and Settler’s Association.
How long do we wait for our ministers, secretaries, police commissioners and the Ombudsman Commission to address administrative matters?
Do we wait for some more years or is it going to be fast-tracked if we press the right money buttons?
Who will do it if five or six different departments and agencies can’t even take a step.
Who else do we go to address this?
It seems you have to pay for fast and efficient service even if you know it’s wrong.

Wilson Thompson,
President,
Farmers & Settlers Association
