Baaz Cup competition gets K33,000 from comp patron

 MEMBER for Port Moresby North East and major sponsor of the NCD Eastern Highlands Baaz Cup rugby league competition Labi Amaiu presented a K33,000 cheque to the competition executives.

During the presentation, Amaiu said there would be another K33,000 bound for the 16 teams of Moresby North East that will be presented at the end of the season.

Amaiu said the first K33,000t he presented yesterday was for the cash prizemoney for the grand finalist teams in the A and B grades, with their runners-up.

“Some of this money can be used for administrative purposes,” Amaiu said. 

Competition president Benny Kene was grateful the MP had come in with the backing.

“I thought that there would be no cash prizes for the finalists but we have been blessed. This weekend will be the major semi-finals of the competition’s top four, with the grand final next week,” Kene said.
