STAFF of Bank South Pacific’s (BSP) asset management and lending support division led a Pinktober fundraising breakfast, which saw all proceeds raised, donated to the PNG Cancer Foundation for its Women’s Health Awareness campaign that runs every October.
The Pinktober breakfast fundraiser saw leading obstetrician and gynaecologist Dr Mathias Sapuri speak to staff at the BSP Waigani head office about the types of cancer, causes, prevention measures and the available treatments.
A cheque of K6,900 was presented to PNGCF executive manager Priscillar Napolean by BSP head of asset management Mukesh Madho on behalf of BSP staff on Friday.
Madho said the Pinktober breakfast has been an annual fundraising event for his team to support awareness programme undertaken by PNGCF and more importantly creating awareness within the bank.
Napolean said October was the month dedicated to raising awareness on women’s health under the Pinktober global health campaign and this month gave business houses, community groups and individuals the opportunity to champion the cause. “Your support this month will go towards assisting PNGCF to continue its efforts in cancer control management, in terms of raising awareness on primary prevention and early detection in 2021,” Napolean said.
“Thank you for supporting the Women’s Health Awareness Campaign in PNG. We are grateful for the support from BSP this Pinktober and look forward to more partnership opportunities to collaborate in the future.”

  • I am not sure if this charity actually does much to help cancer sufferers outside of POM.
I do not see any impact in Kimbe.
Can cancer foundation outline what it has done that is different to national department of health?
