GULF West sponsor John Bige is proud to be associated with the Port Moresby Rugby Football League club and has challenged players from the province to represent Papua New Guinea.
He said it was sad to see that Gulf players had not represented the country in recent times unlike in the past.
“We had Tuksy Karu, the Kouoru brothers (Haoda, Gideon and Joshua), Stanley Haru and Mahuru Tore who represented PNG with flying colours,” Bige said.
“Those were the glory days.
“But now, we are really struggling to get Gulf players into the national team.
“It is not impossible, we have to try harder and commit ourselves to be up there.
“As the club sponsor, I’m proud of our achievements.
“I sponsor West because I want to see Gulf players represent PNG.
“We must be serious about training and our performances.”
He said discipline was paramount and encouraged players to work towards achieving their goals.
“Hard work and commitment can get you into the Digicel Cup which can pave a way for you into the SP Hunters and PNG Kumuls,” Bige said.
