Border province receives K30,000

PROVINCES along the border areas have been allocated K30,000 each for their Christmas and New Year operations, according to Assistant Police Commissioner Samson Kua.
Kua, the commander of border security, said policemen in Sandaun, East Sepik, North Fly and South Fly had been given the funds to look after their own provinces.
“For the Yangoru-Saussia, a mobile squad will be sent to assist them because of the shortage of policemen there,” he said.
Police will keeping a lookout for criminals on the run. They were known to police for various crimes committed between January and November.
“During such operations, many suspects are caught (off their guard) after being carried away with festive season celebrations,” he said.
Police have set up road checkpoints and manning the borders.
