Boy, 12, among accident victims

A 12-YEAR-old boy was among four people who died in a car accident along the Hiritano Highway between Gulf and Central on Sunday while travelling back to Port Moresby from Kerema town.
Mandela Hulava, a health worker who helped get the casualties to hospital, said the accident happened between Waika and Babango.
Hulava said the others who died were a young woman aged between 16 and 20, and two women in their late 30s.
He said they were travelling in a Land Cruiser after a funeral.
He said the vehicle ran off the road and over-turned.
Hulava said health workers were called in to help.
They assisted the boy and two women who later succumbed to injuries as well.
He said they did not see the third woman, who also needed help and she was taken to hospital by another vehicle but also died.
Hulava said six other people from the accident were admitted at the hospital.
Attempts to get comment from police in Kerema were unsuccessful.
