A 13-YEAR-OLD boy and an elderly man died yesterday morning in a car accident at Madang’s Yabob village near the Balasiko Market.
Madang police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said accidents were happening daily in Madang, especially because of the bad road conditions in town and outside town.
He said the tragic accident yesterday, happened because a driver had swerved to avoid a big pothole on the road.
There were five road accidents this week alone, he said.
“Police officers had been arresting drivers but the drivers are blaming the Madang leaders for not fixing the roads.
“Who will we blame now?”
Supt Rubiang said another accident involved a Madang Catholic diocese vehicle and one belonging to a company outside the Anderson Supermarket in town.
Both parties agreed to resolve it outside court, he said.
He said road accidents were happening because of the poor road condition in Madang.
Supt Rubiang said the bodies of the boy and elderly man could not be put in the morgue as there was no space there.
