THE Bank South Pacific Wewak branch has funded the renovation of a secondary school’s ablution block.
In a handover ceremony on Monday, branch manager Annette Poka said the male ablution block was unhealthy for the students to use when she visited Brandi secondary earlier this year.
The school now has six proper toilet bowls, seven shower room taps and two sinks for the 500-plus students to use.
She said schools facilitated learning and set fundamentals for children and it was important for them to study in a healthy
environment using proper facilities.
She encouraged the students to look after the refurbished ablution block.
“Children are our assets for the future and our commitment to developing them portrays our
support for a better future,” she said.
Since 2009, BSP has delivered community projects worth more than K1 million annually and this year it has delivered 35 projects across its 37-branch network nationwide.
Brandi Secondary School principal John Tokmun thanked the bank and said with the new toilet and bathroom facilities the children would enjoy living and learning.
He said the school was the biggest boarding institution in East Sepik province and infrastructure was an area in which the school
was putting greater effort to improve.
