Women should be treated well
WOMEN in military should be treated equally as their male counterparts, says specialist Louie Kaman of the US Military. He said this during the commemoration of the US Memorial Day by the US Embassy at the American Corner in Port Moresby yesterday. He said from his experience of working with the US army, women were equal to their male counterparts. He said in PNG, female soldiers had so many challenges in the profession due to the culture. “Most of the cultural restrictions in PNG have become a hindrance to the career of female soldiers but that needs to change,” he said.

Survey to upgrade settlement
THE National Capital District Commission has carried out a household survey as part of its suburb upgrading programme. Governor Powes Parkop said the survey was based on drafting a sub-divisional plan to allocate land allotments. He also said plans were in place to convert the entire 8-Mile area in Moresby North-East into a suburb.

Association gets K1.8mil
AN association in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, has received K1.8 million from local MP William Duma to continue its work to improve services in the community. The Koma Kalina Community Development Association used its own resources to build a 3.5-kilometre road. Association chairman Peter Kiap said they would use the funds to complete the road amongst other projects.

Chief executive officer Dagia Aka said: “Fashion is a multi-million-dollar industry globally, giving opportunities back to all who are part of it from events personnel through to models and designers.
