Bring ECP back for the people’s sake

Letters, Normal

I DOUBT any of our members of parliament have seen the fear in the eyes of our women, children and even men.
This is because many of them have security details following them.
Has Morobe Governor Luther Wenge not seen enough deaths at his own province?
The number of robberies and hold-ups has increased tremendously in the last two months.
What is Wenge’s plan to reduce the crime rate in PNG?
It is because of his ludicrous decision to challenge the ECP that we have become one of the top 10 countries in the world with high crime and murder rates.
Am I wrong to say that his misplaced pride and nationalism have cost us dearly?
If he was not happy with the remuneration package of our police force compared to the Australians, why didn’t he fight increased benefits instead of removing the ECP outright?
The fact that he removed the ECP without providing an alternative showed not only how shallow he is but a lack of vision too.
I cannot understand how he concluded the ECP could have undermined our democracy.
I have seen enough and have been a victim myself.
I just wished the ECP personnel were back here as I believe their presence will push our police officers to work even harder.
Papua New Guineans living in fear in their own country because the government is unable to reduce the crime rate.
Isn’t that a shame?
As such, I call on our MPs to bring the ECP back.
