Cathedral needs support

THE K15 million cathedral for the Catholic church in Mt Hagen is still under construction and needs financial support, Archbishop Douglas Young says.
Young said former Prime Minister Peter O’Neil had given K2 million, with Western Highlands Governor Paias Wingti contributing K300,000 annually.
Some people were contributing from their pockets to support the construction of the cathedral.
Support is coming from the other dioceses in the Highlands region.
Last Thursday, Young thanked Western Highlands businessman Arnold Kuk for giving K20,000 as his personal contribution.
“This project will improve the role of the Catholic church and we are looking forward for it to be completed,” he said.
Kuk said people should appreciate the church and support it.
He said God was the one who raised educated elites and business people.
“This support is much more important to me and my family.
“I thank God and the church for raising us to this level.”
