PEOPLE from Central have been assured of more tangible development under the direction of new provincial administrator Gei Raga.

During a handing-over ceremony yesterday, Raga commended acting provincial administrator Manasseh Rapilla for managing the province in the past 15 months.

Raga is from the province and has been a public servant for more than 20 years.

He promised to push the public service machinery by working with Central Governor Kila Haoda to provide services to the people.

He also plans to cut back on alcohol consumption among public servants.

“As of today, there will be zero tolerance of alcohol consumption. Field trips and functions will be alcohol free,” he said.

“A lot of money has been squandered towards these activities yet the there are no services for the people of Central. I will not allow complacency.

“Change must first start with the public servants at the Central provincial administration and we have to do what the government of the day wants us to do.”

“Instructions have to be followed and bottlenecks have to be cleared. I will ensure to revisit systems and make them wake up.”

Raga said he would follow up three projects including district housing, operation of the Boroko market and the infrastructure of the 13 LLGs.

Haoda urged all public servants in the provincial administration to work together and move the province forward.
