Central to launch city project

The Central City project at Bautama will be launched at the end of this month, says Central administrator Gei Guni Raga.
Central City, a 30-minute drive from Port Moresby on the Magi Highway, was first commissioned by the Central government with the support of the national Government on Oct 9, 2007.
However, no infrastructure has been built at the site, except three houses occupied by policemen and their families.
Raga said that as the administrator, he could not comment on what caused the delay in developing the provincial capital, except that his duty was to implement the project.
He said that the long delay in the project was “all water under the bridge” and the province was now under the leadership of a new governor.
“We are now waiting for the governor (Robert Agarobe),” Raga said.
“Once he arrives, we will finalise the programme for the Jan 26 launch.
“We have many plans for the city, however, I am not able to disclose the plans as the governor is yet to approve them.”
