EIGHT officers from the Central provincial administration are in Malaysia to undergo training on how the e-government system works.

They are at the Sarawak state government training school. The eight who are attached to various districts and divisions of the administration will be in Sarawak for six weeks.

This is the second batch of officers sent after a group of information and communications technology officers from the provincial administration spent two weeks with Sains, a company engaged by Sarawak state government to oversee the e-government system.

Central provincial information technology advisor, Karo Kila, said the senior officers would be attached to districts and divisions of the Sarawak state government to study how the e-government system worked.

This is an initiative of Governor Kila Haoda to implement the e-government system in Central to ensure that public administration and governance were transparent and accountable in every way possible for service delivery in the province.

Deputy provincial administrator, Edward Kila, speaking during World Statistics Day at Kemabolo village, Rigo district last month, revealed that e-government system would cut out the long administrative process involved and also eradicate corrupt practises in the bureaucracy.

Kila also highlighted that once this e-government system was in place, appropriate and correct data and information would be put in a timely and professional manner.

More officers from the five districts of the province will be sent to Malaysia next year to gain training.
