A MAN, 60 to 70 years old, charged with sexual touching was remanded by Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii yesterday.
Andrew Gema, of Sirime village in Woitape, Central, was charged with one count of sexual touching of a minor at Morata 1 in Port Moresby.
It was alleged that on June 9, during the day, Gema was sitting where the victim and other children were playing.
He spoke to the victim, who is five years old, and allegedly put his hand inside the girl’s trousers and indecently touched her privates.
He quickly removed his hand when he saw the girl’s older sister looking at him.
When he removed his hand, he allegedly said to the girl: “Em tasol ya, mi holim (That’s the one, I hold)”.
The girl’s sister felt bad about what she saw and ran to tell her aunt about what she saw.
They then told their mother, who questioned the man but he denied it.
The man was then taken to the Gordon Police Station and detained.
He was charged with indecent assault directed at a child under the age of 12 years.
The case was adjourned to July 21.
