THE United Church’s Morobe circuit is just K5,000 shy of reaching a fundraising target of K183,000 for its operation cost for 2021 as well as pay for its urban region levy, a church official says.
The church chairman Michael Gaoma said the congregation were proud of their ability to get close to their target of K183,000.
He said aside from contributions, K45,000 came from rent it collected from its property in Chinatown.
He said the church had raised the money despite impacts of the Covid-19.
Ministers as far as Wau, Bulolo and Ramu with their congregations attended the Thanksgiving Day with Lae congregations of Taraka, Malaita, Cassowary, Buokap, Emmanuel and Unitech.
“We will contribute a certain amount of our funds to the Urban Region as our levy,” he said.
“We also have raised enough that we will use for our operational cost next year.”
