College cancels graduation

THE Holy Trinity Teachers College’s 29th graduation scheduled for next Friday in Mt Hagen has been cancelled following the Coronavirus (Covid-19) restrictions, principal Michael Miamel says.
Miamel said the decision was made in compliance with the Covid-19 health and safety protocols one of which was a restriction on large gatherings.
He said the college followed the Education minister’s advice and the Western Highlands Covid-19 task force directive No.8 banning all graduations in the province.
Miamel said the graduation was to be the college’s 29th diploma and fourth degree graduation ceremony.
He said the cancellation would affect 160 diploma students and 32 degree students.
Miamel asked the graduating students to come to the college next Friday to collect their transcripts and other official documents after the governing council meets next Thursday.
