Commission taking vaccine to people

THE Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccination programme needs to be mobile so that people can easily access it, says National Capital District (NCD) Governor Powes Parkop.
“For a long time, we have kept the vaccination team stationary (for example at Rita Flynn) and we are assuming that people have been hesitating,” Parkop said.
“But the reality is simply that people just don’t have the time to go and get vaccinated (at the venues provided).”
City Hall last week began operating a mobile clinic bus to reach the settlements – taking the vaccine to the people instead of waiting for them to come to designated venues.
Vaccination sites have been set up at Central Waigani Stop & Shop, Vision City, Rita Flynn and the Port Moresby General Hospital.
Parkop said they were using the strategy used by the Health Department during the polio and measles vaccination campaign – taking it to the people.
