POLICE Commissioner Gary Baki has warned police officers to observe the law and perform their duties with commitment and pride.
Baki reviewed a police parade in Kimbe, West New Britain, with provincial police commander Sup Jim Namora last Wednesday.
“Accountability and discipline must be brought back into the constabulary,” he said.
Baki said the country was going through turbulent times and the constabulary must carry out its constitutional obligations.
“The communities that we serve have every right to comment and criticise us. Before we discipline the wider section of our respective communities, we need to discipline ourselves first,” Baki said.
He also challenged the people of Talasea district to change their mindset and uphold the law.
