LOCALLY-owned company Anitua Housing Solutions (AHS) celebrated a milestone last month at its housing development project at Kennedy Estate, 7-Mile, Port Moresby.
The occasion was marked with the first set of keys in its 158-house project handed over to a latest homeowner.
“I am happy to finally move in, and my family and I now have a place to call home,” new homeowner Oripa Popat said.
The Anitua Group entered the housing market in Port Moresby in 2015, looking to be part of first home ownership schemes and commitments made at the time.
In 2018, the project began to operate as Anitua Housing Solutions, progressing through a range of issues while being able to further support local businesses across Port Moresby.
Anitua, in a statement, said being a nationally-owned company, the deliverance of a quality housing estate using a majority of locally-supplied material and local workforce was a great achievement.
“We are grateful for the support of the Lands Ministry and its department, Eda Ranu, PNG Power Ltd, NCDC, the major banks and several other government agencies who have worked with us since inception of our housing project in 2015.
It is extremely rewarding to see that this support is facilitating the avenue for Papua New Guineans to own homes,” Anitua chief executive Daniel Kaima said.
The Anitua Group of companies is a 100 per cent Lihirian-owned company that was established in 1989 to provide landowners a means to participate in the Lihir gold project.
Today the Anitua Group is one of PNG’s suppliers of goods and services to a broad range of industries and has grown to be a successful company .

  • Its good to see a nationally owned company rising in this industry. It fits what our current Prime Minister, Honorable James Marape statement which emphasized on taking back PNG. Anitua is the second group of nationally owned company beside Land owners of Ok Tedi mine that financed Hilton Hotel in Pom. That is with building industry.

Therefore, with my personal view, we have set our (Country’s) footprint in this industry already and we must continue to maintain the development growth in that industry. That is to say the industry is within our grips already and we must maintain the fight. We must not retreat or surrender, lets increase the size of the pie graph and reduce the foreign grips of our economy through this industry.
