THE Papua New Guinea National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) has contracted Leading Edge Ltd to manage this year’s Digicel Cup games that will be played at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
PNGNRLC manager Stanley Hondina said yesterday that the venue and event management firm’s managing director was former Oil Search National Football Stadium manager Lee Pokarop.
Hondina said Pokarop had the experience in delivering big games.
“We have contracted Leading Edge Ltd to be our game-day event manager,” he said.
“Leading Edge sounds new but Pokarop is not new to this.
“My board and I wanted someone to take control and run the events properly on game day by not comprising the protocols we’ve put in place.
“They have good team that can deliver the games and we are confident in engaging them for the season.”
Pokarop said he was confident in delivering the matches.
“We are humbled and we thank PNGNRLC for having confidence in us and we look forward to deliver the Digicel Cup games successfully this season,” he said.
“This is a different time and we want to make sure the compliance aspect of it is delivered in a manner that meets the expectations of the national pandemic controller and the global standards.
“That is paramount.”
