Confident Maclaren take on Mungkas

MACLAREN FC are confident of putting up a good challenge against ladder leaders Mungkas FC in the Port Moresby Soccer Association Premier League at the Bisini Soccer Grounds on Sunday.
After a 3-3 draw with University Inter FC last weekend, the David Tawae-coached side are looking to upset the unbeaten Mungkas.
Maclaren go in with one win, two draws and three losses.
“We’re staying positive, Tawae said. “After the draw with Uni last week, we’ve trained hard all week,” Tawae said. “We expect Tau Winnie, Samuel Jack and Leka Vagi to step up if we’re to win.
“Last week, Tau scored three goals and the week before he scored two, so he’s in good form. We feel good.
“It all comes down to how much effort the players put in.”
Tawae said one of their major challenges this year was a lack of experience in their side.
“We only have Tau, who is the most experienced player in our side,” he said.
“Most of the players are young, so experience is probably what we’ve been missing all year.”
In other matches, University play Keleruina, Cosmos take on PS Ruts and Momase face FC Genesis.
