THE St Andrew’s English congregation youth of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Papua New Guinea (ELC-PNG) have initiated a project to do exhibitions and fundraising to assist church-run facilities in Madang and Morobe.
English congregation youth project coordinator Warime Guti said the youth project was named “Luther Haus” and represented five departments of ELC-PNG.
“It is an initiative the youths created themselves to do exhibitions to bring the message to Lutherans about the church,” Guti said.
“In December, 2018, we were invited to do our ‘Luther Haus’ exhibition at the Amele church circuit in Riwo village in Madang for their youth conference. At the end of the conference we decided to visit some of the church facilities as part of our ‘Luther Haus’ project.”
He said the team went to Amron Evangelist College, which is under the Evangelism department, Baitabag Girls’ School under Lutheran education and Yagaum Rural Hospital (under Lutheran Health Services) also in Madang.
“While visiting Yagaum rural hospital, we were taken for a tour around the hospital. We visited the children’s ward when we came up with our youth project to renovate the children’s ward.”
Guti said the group sang carols in the ward for the sick children and it was an emotional time for everyone involved.
