CONTINUOUS rains in Morobe have damaged roads in Lae, and are wreaking havoc on traffic in the city.

A drive around yesterday by this reporter revealed that apart from the central business district of Top Town, roads in most other sectors were badly affected with potholes and flooded from clogged up drains.

The worst hit thoroughfares are the Markham Road running past the old Lae airport, Milford Haven Road running past the Lae football field (LFA), the Bumbu stretch from Eriku to Kamkumung and at Uni Gate all the way to the back road at Bumayong.

But the most notable are the access-exit roads into and out of the main wharf area, the busiest and most important sector of the city.

Meantime, the lone weather forecaster in Lae was out of office yesterday, reportedly sick, which denied our effort to get an update on the present weather conditions in the province.
