Cops to use FB for policing

National

THE National Capital District (NCD) police is setting up a Facebook page to promote community policing, Acting NCD/Central Asst Comm Anthony Wagambie Jr said.
“The Facebook page will be used to share ‘positive stories of the constabulary’ and also help enhance police-public interaction,” he said.
“Through this page, the public can help tip-off police or report criminal activities.”
“ We also want the public to share their views with us on how we can improve some of our performance and our relationship with communities.”
Wagambie said law and order and public security were “everyone’s business” and “I am looking forward to working with the people via Facebook”.
He also urged the public to also use the toll free number 180 0100 to report criminal activities and police brutality cases.

  • just what we Pom people have been waiting for, we’ve heard and seen good things happening in Lae when you were there and we couldn’t be more happy to have you extend the same here in Port Moresby, congratulations on your appointment and thank you for changing the course of the Police force, we the public in Port Moresby have lost our trust in the constabulary in recent times due to certain changes but yes change has come and we are also eager to work with you to bring back the credibility and trust of the constabulary but more so make our capital city safer place for our families.

  • That will be very helpful.
I suggest the admins should also hide identities of informants when they inbox a picture/message statements of incidents.
that way the public would not be afraid of reporting crimes since some families may have a rotten apple in their family and would want to report but are frightened for their safety.
