EAST Pangia local level government president Henry Tekari has urged those vying for his seat to run a clean and fair campaign during the LLG elections this month.

He said some were already telling the voters that the National Government had allocated funds to LLG to be given to their supporters if they won the presidency.

Tekari said the people should be allowed to make their own decisions on who to vote for and candidates  must not mislead them by making false promises.

He said the people of Ialibu-Pangia had a good record when it came to holding peaceful elections and the same should be done in the LLG election.

Tekari said all project funds for council wards were managed by local MP Peter O’Neill, the prime minister, who released funds upon request to his office for various projects.

Tekari said police would be present during polling and urged candidates and their supporters to follow the rules and avoid getting into trouble.

He thanked the Government for giving the responsibility back to the people to choose their council presidents.
