TWO brothers who allegedly got drunk and disturbed members of the public at the Kamkumung Care Centre were ordered by the Lae Committal Court to pay K500 each as court fine or be imprisoned.
The court heard that on March 22, around 11.30am at the Independence Drive, Ronald and Freddie Nadi stood in front of a trade store and consumed alcohol and played their boom
boxes.
Police said they created such a nuisance and disturbed members of the care centre community who were living in the Kamkumung area.
The court heard that a police patrol unit spotted them and stopped.
They fled when they saw the police, the court heard, but were apprehended later.
Magistrate Nasaling Bingtau asked the duo whether what the police record showed was true and they mumbled “yes”.
Bingtau told the Kamkumung natives that they had broken the law by consuming alcohol in public and disturbing the peace in the community.
He fined them K500 each and said their bail of the same amount would be used as court fine.
“You must behave. Don’t drink beer,” he told the pair who was speechless.
“If you do not drink beer you will not die. Forget about beer.”
