THE eight people tested positive for Covid-19 confirmed cases are recovering, according to Police Minister Bryan Kramer.
He said four had been cleared and four were awaiting results of further tests.
“The three in Western Province are still waiting for the results of their third samples test before they can be cleared,” Kramer said.
“The case in Eastern Highlands is waiting for her second sample test result. But all four are recovering.”
He said the two in East New Britain and one in Port Moresby were cleared after their third tests came out negative.
The first case, a 40-year-old expatriate, had already left for home.
“A colleague of the (East New Britain) woman was tested positive also but they have both been cleared after their second and third samples came back as negative,” he said.
Kramer said the woman from Asaro in the Daulo district of Eastern Highlands had travelled from Lae to visit her brother.
“On April 21, her sample tested positive at the Goroka IMR.
“Samples of her contacts were also collected including staff at the clinic and her family.
“A second sample was also collected from her and sent to Brisbane for testing.
“The results are expected back soon.”
Meanwhile State Of Emergency Controller David Manning said a 12-year-old boy, a woman and a man in Western who tested positive had been isolated in the past two weeks at their homes in Dome, Iogi and Kungim villages.
But Iogi village councillor Lexie Gawit said no one was “isolated” and everyone was moving around freely in the community.
“No one is displaying any sign of the Covid-19 like coughing and high fever,” he said.

  • Our testing kits are not WHO certify standard so I salute the government for sending testing samples to australia for confirmation.PNG are blessed with garden foods where it riches in minerals that strenghten our immune system naturally to fight this deadly COVID-19.We don’t have to be panic from the first test result and make our people fear by saying all sorts of things from the media, coz we lack testing kits so our second and thirt test will always be NEGATIVE,we must pray and say thank you our almighty GOD for continuous protection up on us…

  • Mr. Bomai, what you have said is correct especially the protection of the Almighty GOD. He knows for certain that COVID-19 may be a trial for those who do not believe in “ONE GOD”. PNG is a christian country and that is TRUE.
Keep praying to protect PNG and stregthen our believe and to build our faith.

  • Can the government find out WhY there is only one patient recorded positive while the contacts negative? HOW is this possible? I think the people need to know, provided the answers to those two question.

  • We have received reports that 2 residents in Tabubil have tested positive to Covid-19 today. This would indicate that Covid-19 is spreading throughout the township, which may result in the township having to close businesses including the mine.

  • It was in year 2007 when the Hollywood release series movie about the pandemic disease. please have time seek and find out for yourselves. The freemasons planed exactly what has happened last year 2019 & this year 2020 about this disease that will kill people and all will go into lockdown all through out the world. So please don’t be panic and say all kinds of words to each others here in PNG. It won’t affect us here, it will be said positive but eventually will be go into negative as we are God’s children and we PNG got nothing to do that has happened overseas. Adhere to basic hygiene and eat healthy foods (fruits and vegetables) and be pray full. Please seek Heavenly Father for everything you desire and need at this time of live.

  • Kramer says affected people in remote villages like those in Western are being isolated and kept apart from the rest but one of the village councillor says there is no such thing as isolation or quarantining in those villages. It looks like Kramer is depending on misinformation from his men on the ground and he takes them for granted!

  • The grace and mercy of God Almighty is upon PNG. Because of our customs and lifestyle which can not withstand the fast spread of the virus, the Divine intervention is evident here. For example, the 8 positive cases declared would have doubled or tripled the number by then, or worst case a death would have been announced. Truly, God is in control of PNG. Therefore, citizens of PNG, be optimistic and praise God in all you do daily.

  • Thank God for the free clean air we breath because we have plenty of trees and plants around us,most disease causing germ do not survive long once expose to oxygenated areas ,Secondly we should be thankful for the sunshine and the humid temperature we have in this country ,Thirdly the healthy food we always eat like kaukau, greens ,bananas etc , Fourthly our positive attitude and Finally thanks to our PM Honorable James Marape who opening stand out to the people of PNG and the rest of the world by pointing us to God and requested that the whole country pray to acknowledge God who is PNGs fortress, rock and covering . Who knows we could be the last chosen Nation today to be the only light house in the dark world pointing the way to safety.Keep shining and keep holding on, this plague will pass over our land, because we are the last frontier ..
