GOVENOR-General Bob Dadae, pictured, says everyone has a part to play in empowering the women of Papua New Guinea.
During the launching of the City Pharmacy Limited Pride of PNG Awards for Women yesterday, Dadae quoted the former United Nations general secretary Kofi Annan who had said: “Gender equality is more than a goal itself.
“It is a precondition for meeting the challenge of reducing poverty, promoting sustainable development and building good governance.”
Dadae said he was inspired by the stories on the lives of women that had been honoured for the past 10 years.
“I look forward to hearing of the wonderful deeds, the selfless sacrifice, the wit and determination of the women that will be nominated this year,” Dadae said. Dadae acknowledged City Pharmacy Limited Group and its partners for the great initiative.
“Such recognition is a wonderful source of strength for women to work with pride and dignity, knowing that many of their sisters, right throughout Papua New Guinea are also working hard for the same cause.”
Dadae is the patron for this year’s Pride of PNG Awards for Women.
