Deal signed to connect communities in EHP and Morobe

MARKHAM and Obura-Wonenara districts signed an agreement to build a road to link interior communities in the Onga-Waffa and Lamari local-level government areas of Eastern Highlands and Morobe.
The road begins at Yasuru and goes on to Imani, Kusin and Tumbuna in Onga-Waffa, Markham and will link Ahea and Habina in the Lamari local level government area of Obura-Wonenara.
MPs Koni Iguan (Markham) and Mehrra Kipefa (Obura-Wonenara), who is also the Minister for Labour and Industrial Relations, signed an agreement at Mutzing Station on Friday to share machinery and workforce while contributing K200,000 each year from district services fund to construct the road.
Iguan said the road construction was in their five-year development plan.
“This agreement is not about road construction alone. It is the agreement for many good things to be exchange from coastal to Highlands and vice-versa,” Iguan said.
