THE Defence rugby league club were given a new set of uniforms by local company Heli Solutions at Murray Barracks yesterday.
Chief executive officer captain Phil Emeck launched the club’s new uniforms and paid the club’s affiliation and player’s registration sponsorship of more than K35,000.
Emeck said as a former PNG Defence Force pilot, he and his directors were proud to sponsor the club which they were a part of it in the past.
“This partnership will continue in the future” Emeck said.
“We are coming with this in as the major sponsor besides other minor donors who are also supporting this season.”
Emeck enouraged soldiers to play for the club which is part of the Port Moresby Rugby League.
“We had Kumuls like Kera Ngaffkin, (late) James Miviri, Arnold Krewanty, Roy Loitive who have come from Defence and we’d like to see more soldiers play for the club,” he said.
Club president Major Michael Percy Marai said the sponsorship of three sets of uniforms was a boost for their 2018 premiership campaign.
“We are fortunate to secure this sponsorship from Heli Solutions and directors as our major partners,” Marai said.
“For two seasons, we used only one set of uniforms and today we are proud recipients of three brand new sets courtesy of our sponsor. The club has secured former Digicel Cup coach Andy Andiki to assist Vagi Vali this season after 11 games.
