LAE City forward Obert Bika says the determination to score is what drives him to strive to greater heights in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League.
The striker said that after he scored the winner in the grand final against competition rookies Vitiaz United at Papua New Guinea Football Stadium in Port Moresby on Saturday night.
Bika told The National that he had been working hard on his game all season.
“I’m really happy and excited about scoring the goal to help City retain the title,” he said.
“I knew what I wanted to do during my preparation leading into the grand final.
“As a forward, you will always want the opportunity to score and I’m thankful that I had a chance to score the winner.
“I already had trust in my coach and my teammates so I knew what I wanted to do and I knew I was going to score.
“I will always give thanks to the Lord for giving me the strength to do my best and I wouldn’t be where I am without the support of my teammates.
“We’ve worked hard for this and it’s great to win another title for City and Morobe as a whole.
“We left our homes in Lae and came here (Port Moresby) so to win away from home is really special.”
The 27-year-old said despite the win, he still had a lot of areas to work on in order to become a better striker.
Bika is a pioneering member of Besta United (2012-2014) and Lae City Dwellers (now City).
