Develop PNG first, donor country later

Letters, Normal

I REFER to the prime minister’s comments about becoming a donor country (The National, May 26).
The PM insists PNG can become a donor country.
While it is good to be able to share and help others who are in need, we need to clear own backyard first before we can help others.
Can the PM allocate vital funds to promote and provide better health and education services?
If our villages that are located near towns and provincial headquarters do not have adequate health and education services, think about those who live in areas like Menyamya, Gumine, Marawaka, Kaintiba, Aseki and other remote areas.
It would have been better if the PM and his ministers were to concentrate on improving the life of our people in very remote areas.
If they put themselves in the shoes of our remote people, then will they realise the pain and struggle our people have to
go through everyday.
I say we develop our own country first rather than think of becoming a donor country.
If we cannot look after our own people, do you think we can look after others?
