EPHRAIM Mark, 26, limped up to the stage to receive his trade certificate during the Melanesia Training Institute end-of-year ceremony at the Vunapope Archdiocese Hall in Kokopo, East New Britain.
The slight limp on his left leg did not stop him from completing the course and receiving his certificate.
Mark said he was happy to complete the course and wanted to work in office management.
Mathew Niaviku, 43, was applauded when he went to receive his certificate because of his age.
His four children and wife were there to witness the happy occasion.
Meanwhile, sisters Valerie and Geraldine Pupulis overcame their hearing impairments and completed national certificate course in garment production at the Kabaleo Technical Vocational Education Training Centre in East New Britain.
They were among 127 students who received their certificates.
Valerie and Geraldine were born without the ability to hear.
The ceremony was witnessed by mothers who were part of the 10-day class.
Kokopo lord mayor Benjamin Mesmin Murliu told the students to practice Christian values they had been taught.
He told them to stop damaging school properties which was becoming too common in ENB.
Murliu told parents to discipline their children at home before sending them to school as discipline for kids starts at home first.
“Parents must take the first responsibility to discipline kids,” he said.
