Discipline paramount for Gurias’ players

CURRENT champions of the bemobile Cup challenge, NGIP Agmark Rabaul Gurias will be focusing on player discipline and commitment to maintain their clean record in the history of the PNG semi-professional rugby league competition.
Gurias, the pride of the New Guinea Islands region have over the years, held a very good track record and because their professionalism both on and off the field, have made them a product that is saleable.
Gurias now have a huge following throughout the region and other parts of PNG when they travel out to play.
However, they will be clamping down the discipline of their players this season.
Coaching director Michael Marum said it had been the management and players’ discipline and commitment that had brought the franchise to new heights.
Gurias will be celebrating their 20th anniversary in the semi-professional league challenge this year after 19 years in the competition.
Marum said discipline was paramount and any one caught misbehaving would  be dealt with severely, even to the extent of expelling him from the club because it was the only franchise in the NGI region.
Currently, all the members of the team are camping in Rabaul to prepare for the selection trials played at the Kalabond Oval on April 3 and April 10.
A 25-man squad has already been selected from the Agmark rugby league nines challenge to meet the Agmark Gurias in the two trials.
