Discipline Tari people

Letters

WHY is the Prime Minister and Tari-Pori MP James Marape and Hela Governor Philip Undialu quiet about the serious crimes committed by people from Tari?
Such people do not deserve to live and operate in the cities and towns in PNG.
As per what appeared in The National on Friday (Jan 17), a Tari guy killed a person from Gulf at 9–Mile settlement.
Looking back last year, Tari people killed three men from Southern Highlands at 8-Mile settlement in Port Moresby, that led to thousands of kina worth of properties being set on fire.
Among the three victims killed was a university student.
Few months later, a person believed to be from Tari, killed the manager of Bangladesh owned shopping centre at Gerehu.
We are all from different provinces, coming into cities and towns to work and raise our kids and contribute to the development of this nation. Yet, some people seem to be living in the caves.
Their leaders should be ashamed of their people’s actions.
Few months ago, there was a fight between Tari’s and policemen at the Erima fly over bridge that resulted in unnecessary deaths.
In Port Moresby, there is always fights between Tari-Enga, Tari-Simbu, Tari-Goilala, Tari-Goroka, etc, etc…
Please, enough is enough.
There will be more deaths and destructions in the city if there is nothing done about this.
We the victims of this fight want Hela Governor Philip Undialu and Prime Minister James Marape to speak to your people and lecture them on how to behave and live in cities and towns.
Port Moresby belongs to PNG and it doesn’t belong one faction.

  • The concern citizen’s point is very true because as I was looking at the newspapers, most of the deads and problems in daily news mentioned someone from HELA PROVINCE killing another Papua New Guinean from other provinces or even killing a man from another country.

I wonder how the LEADERS and Politicians of HELA PROVINCE feel and think when they read about their people acting inhuman and animalistic.
So Hela leaders wake up and do some changes to change your people’s mindsets and attitudes.

  • Valid point raised here, but the way these Tari’s see the world is different from the other people in the country. Their way of living is very primitive and that stone-age mentality is very strong. We believe no amount of knowledge or awareness can change their way of life. They absolutely have no respect for the rule of law and the human life. They always act like they own and control everything. It would have been much better if they live in a very isolated place away from the good and peace-loving citizens .

  • When ever there is a news article on TARI and WABAG, I quickly flip the page over to read something better and worthwhile concerning PNG. I do not want to waste a second on primitive and uncivilised ethnic groups. It will take 100 more years for a few changes in their mentality, not all. 1% of these group of people are good.
