GOILALA MP William Samb says the district is addressing its human resource issues based on its current needs.
Samb said this in Port Moresby on Friday during the handing over of a cheque for K50,000 to assist 12 Goilala students attending the Catholic-run Veifa’a Community Health Workers (CHW) Training College in Kairuku-Hiri, Central.
“We are trying to address human resources that will be able to assist us right now, given the resource needs we have,” he said.
Samb said the district office was focused on building their human resources in education and health as well as up-skilling the existing workforce.
“For teacher training, we are putting in funding to support our Goilala students at Bomana Teachers College which has been going on for about three years now,” he said.
“This is also for nursing students attending Veifa’a.”
Samb told Veifa’a CHW Training College acting principal Florian Yambilafuan, who received the funding support, to start interacting with relevant agencies such as the Health Department and the Department of Higher Education and Research Technology for assistance.
Yambilafuan, while acknowledging the funding support, said the school had funding issues as they heavily relied on church funding as well as school fees.
