MENYAMYA, Morobe, has completed and submitted its acquittals for 2016-18 to the Department of Implementation and Rural Development.
District administrator Bohage Bebinaso, who presented the acquittals, said it was not easy but he was pleased his office had executed an important requirement.
Bebinaso thanked Nickolas Apeniku, an officer from the department, who helped in the compilation of the acquittals.
“Apeniku not only helped us put everything together but helped us learn what to do and how to go about compiling acquittals,” he said.
“I am more than impressed that my officers are now able to do the acquittals and they will start compiling starting this year.
“We are committed and we will try and make sure acquittals are completed and submitted on time.”
District finance manager Moses Ango said it was challenging but also a learning process for them.
Ango said the acquittals presented were according to sectors based under the District Services Improvement Programme (DSIP) funding from 2016 to 2018.
Department of Implementation and Rural Development Mamose assistant secretary Lydia Ekonia acknowledged and thanked the Menyamya MP and his team for the hard work.
She also congratulated them for another milestone achieved last month which was the launching of their district five-year integrated development plan.
Ekonia said Menyamya was one of the least developed districts in the province and had not submitted acquittals over the years, adding that this was the first time the department received their acquittals.
Meanwhile, outstanding acquittals for 2013-15 for Menyamya were yet to be compiled and submitted and Ango said work would soon start on compiling them.
