Districts, LLGs told to self-generate funds

Business

Districts and local level governments in East New Britain should not wait for Government funding but generate their own money from their resources.
ENB deputy administrator Nicholas Larme issued the challenge to district and LLG officers recently.
“I am urging the leaders to create opportunities your land and your resources can be used to create revenue for your administration and your people,” Larme said.
“There are many business opportunities that you can tap in to.”
Larme said one of the plans was to increase the internal revenue base of wards, LLGs and districts.
“We cannot wait for Waigani every time to give us money,” he said.
“It will make us lose focus.
“Let us create our own money.
“I called for coordination and partnerships in all sectors and stakeholders to achieve the outcomes of economic empowerment for the people.”
Larme said there was cocoa, and now, with white copra, people should empower each other with the knowledge and skills.

  • This is the true and best idea Mr Nicholas Larme is talking about because in the long run it will boost up the economy; Districts and LLG’s will be benefiting and the local people will be benefiting. Let’s try it out and we’ll see the outcome.
