Do not wait for govt handouts

Letters

MANY times, Papua New Guineans complain about MPs not doing anything for their districts.
Every day, I read comments in the newspapers about development not reaching districts.
It is obvious that people are just waiting for handouts from the Government.
After electing our MPs, we sit around lazily and wait for district funds to reach us.
District funds can never benefit everyone.
Development is not reaching us because of our MPs and not the Government.
When someone wants to build a house, the first thing he do is clearing the piece of land.
He then chops down trees down to build the house with.
The last thing he does is setting up a frame.
Do you ask the Government to help you with building your house?
I do not think so.
You will have to sweat to build your house.
This is the type of mentality I’m trying to drive.
We cannot sit and wait for government handouts, especially district funds.
We have to be self-reliant and do something for ourselves to benefit us and the country.
If we need a health centre, let’s build it ourselves.
All we need to do is chop down trees and build one.
It is simple as that.
God has given us brains to think and do things for ourselves.
