Don’t pay police deployed to your electorates, Kramer says

MPs have been told not to pay policemen who are deployed into their provinces and districts.
Police Minister Bryan Kramer said provincial and district administrations should not be paying deployed officers.
“Going forward, no member, district or provincial administrator should be paying any officer,” he said.
“You tell those deployed officers to deal with the police commissioner.
“The commissioner will mark a rate which you pay into a trust account and when the operation goes past 21 days he will pay them, not you the MP.”
Kagua-Erave MP Wesley Raminai raised a series of questions to Kramer on policing in his district where 10 policemen were serving more than 100,000 people.
“We have had five tribal fights since 2017 we have been without a police station commander,” Raminai said.
“I don’t know if police have made it known to your office about the struggle we have had in law and order.
“We need a police station commander.
“We need more police officers.
“We have a barracks, we have a station and we are ready to support the work of the police should we get a commissioned officer,” Raminai said.

  • We must stop the idea of creating the new rate and still practiced the the legal rate approved by Parliament. For commssioner to create a new rate, it smells feasy, there are instances that many old Commissioners did create rate and when money goes into trust account, Police Personals do not really get the full rate but is subject to cut which normally don’t go down well with the members.

To clear things up for instance in the past mobile squards were normally deployed to mining areas and their allowances then is paid into a trust fund were commissioners in the past had a full control over it and experienced had shown that normally all the Mobile personals did not get their full allowances.

Therefore what Police Minister is suggesting smells feasy given the experiences of Police Personals had experience in the past
