THE Government is committed to fixing up Goroka town’s water supply problems in Eastern Highlands, Finance Minister Rainbo Paita says.
“Prime Minister James Marape gave K1 million last year to the then-Goroka MP Henry Ame to fix up the town water supply but I understand the University of Goroka (UOG) water supply is still having problems,” Paita said.
The Finschhafen MP said there were two water supplies for Goroka town.
“One is the Goroka town water supply and the other is the UOG water supply,” Paita said.
“When Marape gave K1 million, he said we could solve all the water problems once and for all when funds become available. I want to assure the Goroka people that Marape already made a commitment so we will honour it.”
Goroka MP Aiye Tambua in his first question in Parliament after winning the Goroka by-election last month, said that Goroka town water supply needed to be fixed.
