TOP sides Gabutu Dragons and 2-Mile Pearls scored big wins in the third round of the Moresby South Rugby League women’s competition on Saturday.
The Dragons roasted SS Rabbitohs 36-0 while Pearls handed new kids on the block Vabukori Mosquitoes a 16-0 beating at the Moresby South Stadium.
Sab City Raiders won via forfeit over 6-Mile Crows and IMHC Vadavada United beat luckless Joyce Bay Roosters 12-4.
The Dragons, Pearls and Raiders maintain their unblemished records after the weekend matches – each on six points from three wins. United, Mossies, Rabbitohs are on two points apiece from single wins while Roosters have yet to win a game.
The competition goes into recess for the General Election from July 6-10 with round four to resume on July 15-17.
Try-scoring ace Jafinda Sap continued her great form for the Dragons with a hat-trick against the Rabbits.
The Pearls were led national representative Lancy Laki at halfback with support from Ayleen Sony, Nisela Ravu and Quinine Gispe to shut out the Vabukori women.
After a scoreless first half, the Pearls shifted gears to score tries through Ravu (2) and Veronica Brown while Laki kicked two goals.
The inexperienced Mozzies tried hard throughout the contest but could not breach the Pearls’ line.
